SOKONI Black Entrepreneurship Program

Sokoni Program Assistants/Social Media and Marketing Managers

Compensation:
$22/hr for 20hrs/week.


Job Description:
The successful candidates will assist the program managers and/or Executive Director with the Sokoni Black Entrepreneurship Program (BEP). You will be required to assist with day-to-day operations as needed, assist the Executive Director and Program Manager with daily tasks, register participants  for events and programs and maintain a mailing list,  participate in fundraising preparations and events as needed, create content for the website and social media platforms,  maintain facility and light housekeeping duties (sweeping, emptying trash, etc). Must have experience in with managerial work, marketing and promotions. Applicants must also exhibit a strong positive attitude, a strong willingness to learn, as well as an exceptional work ethic. Must be available to work immediately. Positions available in Windsor (1), London (1), Hamilton (1). 

Availability needed Monday-Saturday, some Sundays. 

*Some positions will begin as a remote placement, working from home so each applicant must have access to the internet and a computer.*

Skills and Experience:
  • Marketing skills & social media experience
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Interest in community work and organizational skills
  • Strong computer and Internet literacy skills: Knowledge of MS Office Suite, Canva, Google Docs, Adobe Creative Suite, etc
  • Must be proficient in social media platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, work independently, use initiative, and effectively handle disruptions
  • Reliable, dependable, and self-motivated
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with others in a team environment
  • Possesses the physical ability to perform moderately heavy lifting
  • A valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle would be an asset

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree with minimum 1 year experience (co-op business work can count towards experience)
  • High School Diploma with minimum 5 years business experience

Assets:
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle would be an asset
  • French/bilingual an asset
  • Business background an asset
